Make every prison in America an accredited school for earning a living

A petition to your members of Congress, started by Brayden Sanders, founder of County Commons on 2026-10-24.

Why it matters

Nearly everyone in prison comes home. We ask Congress to require and fund accredited job training and education in every federal prison, and to help states do the same — training that ends in a recognized credential. A RAND review of decades of studies found people who took part in prison education had 43% lower odds of returning to prison than those who didn't.

What’s happened

Raised by residents — not yet carried to the county.

This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; in Arkansas and most states that takes ink signatures from registered voters. Signatures are counted, not verified — one per browser; the delivered copy removes duplicates. Like everything here, petitions can’t campaign for candidates or ballot measures, or name county staff.
